Flagship phones are getting better day by day, by innovating and coming with new designs. LG and Samsung are currently competing in the market with their new flagship phones, i.e. Samsung Galaxy S9 and LG G7 They both are spectacular phones, with new display ratios, experimenting with the technology. Both the phones are creating the required hype.
When people are busy with these flagships, the technology enthusiasts are already guessing, waiting and rumoring about the next series of the flagships phones by both the companies. Galaxy S9 and LG G7 is already being talked about by fraction of curious people. Samsung Galaxy S9 vs LG G7
Qualcomm is working on its new processer, Qualcomm Snapdragon 840 SoC, so it is expected to arrive at the end of the 2017 or first half of 2018. Almost in the same time frame of these phones. So both of the phones are expected to ship with this upcoming processor. Samsung could go for upgrading its new exynos chipset from Exynos 8895 Octa that they have used in the galaxy S8. So there are chances that both the phones will have the same brain in Samsung Galaxy S9.
Talking about LG G7, the rumours say the phone will have Snapdragon 830 Soc, but since the phone is releasing at end of the year, it is expected that LG can change the processer to the new one.Galaxy S9 and LG G7 are expected to ship with updated GPU, which will be launched along with the new processer.
Talking about the RAM, with a new chipset, Samsung stayed with 4GB of RAM with S8. The fans were excited about the RAM, and it was little disappointing for them to not get 6GB, which is present in most of the flagships now. The new galaxy S9 can be delightful for those fans because Samsung is going to upgrade the RAM game of their flagship series.
In the case of LG G7, the company can think of going into 8 GB RAM, the chances are there, though they’re scarcely there. Even if they go with the 6 GB, the new processer is going to make up for that. The RAM battle between both the phones will be intresting.
Galaxy S9 and LG G7 definitely raised the bar when it comes to design. The screen to body ratio is higher than previous phones, they come up with new screen ratio, 18:9 and Samsung, integrating the curved screen in the phone. With that deliverance in the design department, the expectations are higher than ever.
LG G7 is coming up with a bendable display and a much better screen to body ratio. The phone will be sleek, curved from the back to easily fit into the hand. The case will be uni-body, with a non-removable battery. With Whole metal body, usually an aluminium alloy, for better security of the inner hardware.
The set will be slimmer and lightweight.Samsung S9 will have a much sleeker design, and the body will be much stronger. The company will try to upgrade the water resistant rating. They’re going to stay with the iconic curved display design, but the display will be upgraded, much better than what they’re offering right now.
Samsung is going to go for 4K display, with the currently quad HD display on their flagship, that’s a step ahead for them. The display will have better colours and sunlight visibility. The 3D touch is going to stay and will be applicable to more apps then it is now. The current flagship is 5.8 inch AMOLED display, so Samsung can marginally increase the screen size to 6 inches, with managing the body size to be same.
LG, on the other hand, has stayed with LCD display, but with LG G7, they can try AMOLED display because it has better black and colour areas. LG’s bendable display is surely going to be the eye catcher but with expectations being so high, LG should reinvent the display from the basic level, i.e. going for the AMOLED display. The screen size will be less than the Samsung’s upcoming flagship, but surely both of them will have cut to cut competition in the display section.
Samsung hasn’t yet tried the dual camera setup, and this may prevail in the coming flagship.Camera of Samsung Galaxy S9 will have a single lens setup, but it would be better in turns of aperture and autofocus. Currently, the camera is 12 megapixels, Samsung can upgrade the pixels, or just go for the dual camera setup. Actually, it is difficult to predict that. The chances are that they will go for the single lens, with 16 or maybe 21 megapixels. A radical change like dual camera setup is way far than we think.
On the other hand, LG is a company that can go for a radical change, they have one it with dual displays, dual cameras, and many other things. The LG G7 will feature 12 MP front and 22 megapixels rare, as per rumours. The company will go for the dual step, but it may happen that both will work together, rather than the ‘wide frame camera and normal camera’ setup.
Wireless charging will be there but optimized better than it is now. Samsung currently has 3000 Mah battery in the galaxy S8, and for galaxy S9, the number could go 4500 or maybe 5000. But here is a catch, the new processer will be 25% energy efficient, which means, there is slight need of the battery upgradation. Now that totally depends upon the company that whether they want the onscreen time to be increased.
LG G6 has better battery currently, now the upgradation should be 3700 mah because it is technically right for them to stay ahead of the Samsung in this department. The processer will be energy efficient, so LG G7 will definitely have the better on screen time, may be 5+ hours on heavy usage.
Both the companies are trying hard to innovate and come up with the technology that there customers want. Samsung chooses to stay safe by not performing some radical changes, but on the other hand, LG is a company that knows that change is what is going to thrive the company.
Unlike Samsung, LG doesn’t have that kind of a fan following and market share. So definitely it is going to be interesting launches for both of the companies, and of course technology enthusiasts, to see, whether it is LG G7 or Samsung S9 that wins the race.
